Inquest Tonight In O'rourke Accident Death
An inquest to determine if fatal injuries to James J. O'Rourke, 83, of 1120 Young Strret were caused by negligence, will be held in at 7:30 p.m. today in the Kipp funeral home, Coroner Stewart S. Kill said.
Prosecuting Attorney Reg. S. Atkins ordered the inquest after Mr. O'Rourke died Sept 9 of injuries suffered July 26 when he was struck by a taxicab at Seenth and Water streets.
The driver, Raymond McClelland, 28, of 11326 Gillett street, told Police the victime walked in front of the taxi.

Funeral services were held today in St. Joseph's Catholic church for James H. O'Rourke, 83, of 1120 Young street, who diedTuesday in Port Huron Hospital of injuries suffered when he was struck by a taxi cab July 26 at Seventh and Water streets.
Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas A. Connell, pastor, officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Clair.
James Cox, Andrew P. Cox, Arthur E. Reuter, Neil R. MacDonald, Fred A. Lamlein and Edgar C. Bleau, members of Port Huron Council No. 521 Knights of Columbus of which Mr. O'Rourke was a member, were pallbearers.

Kenneth Oates (Kenn) 80, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his sons on February 8, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Leitha Ellen Oates (Cross), his sons, Dave, Jeff and Ken, daughter-in-law Sue, granddaughters Linda King, Christy Mitchell, Shea Santos and 8 great grandchildren. Kenn was born and raised in Michigan. He was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. His love for teaching and children was evidenced by his 40 year career in education as a teacher, coach and principal. He moved to Arizona when he retired. He was an avid fan of all sports, but his passion was baseball. He was a proud Veteran of the Korean War serving as radio operator and earning the bronze star. He will be missed by all who love him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation in his name to Hospice of the Valley , 1501 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Service will be held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E.
